McLain Flats is the name of the “back road” into Aspen that goes along the plateau above the Roaring Fork River and is a quick 10-minute drive to Aspen’s Central Core. This spacious plateau used to be large farming holdings before the mini-mansions were built. The views from this area are mesmerizing with sweeping vistas from Independence Pass to Mt. Sopris and the multiple 14’ers between. Horses in fields and bicyclists on the roads should be expected in this area.
